Our client is seeking a Senior BI Platform Engineer to lead the administration, optimization, governance, and ongoing evolution of an enterprise Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment. This role is focused on platform ownership rather than report development and will support a large self-service analytics community by driving platform performance, reliability, adoption, and best practices.

Our client is seeking a Senior BI Platform Engineer to lead the administration, optimization, governance, and ongoing evolution of an enterprise Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment. This role is focused on platform ownership rather than report development and will support a large self-service analytics community by driving platform performance, reliability, adoption, and best practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day administration, performance, and health of the Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment
- Manage and optimize capacities, gateways, workspaces, tenant settings, and security configurations
- Monitor platform utilization, refresh activity, capacity consumption, and overall environment health
- Troubleshoot performance issues related to reports, semantic models, dataflows, datasets, and refresh processes
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and operational reporting capabilities to improve platform visibility and reliability
- Leverage Power BI APIs and Embedded APIs to automate reporting and platform administration activities
- Establish governance standards and best practices that support responsible self-service analytics adoption
- Partner with report developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to improve platform performance and maturity
- Support the organization's transition and expansion into Microsoft Fabric capabilities
- Create and maintain platform documentation, standards, and operational procedures
- Serve as the subject matter expert for analytics platform administration and strategy
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Power BI environments
- Strong Power BI Service administration experience including capacities, gateways, workspaces, tenant settings, and security
- Experience supporting large-scale Power BI environments with hundreds of users and multiple workspaces
- Experience troubleshooting performance issues related to reports, semantic models, dataflows, refreshes, and capacity utilization
- Experience building monitoring, alerting, and operational reporting solutions
- Knowledge of analytics governance and self-service BI best practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Microsoft Fabric administration and implementation experience
- Experience supporting enterprise analytics platform migrations or modernization initiatives
- Experience working with Power BI Embedded APIs and automation solutions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), security groups, and RBAC
- Exposure to Fabric features including semantic models, Copilot, AI experiences, and emerging analytics capabilities
- Experience supporting data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development teams
- Experience creating platform health dashboards, usage reporting, and operational analytics
- Strong ownership mentality with a focus on platform success
- Ability to balance governance requirements with user enablement
- Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to educate, influence, and guide users toward best practices
- Continuous improvement mindset with interest in emerging analytics technologies
- Location: Hybrid (Onsite 3 days per week) in Saint Louis, MO
- Occasional after-hours support may be required
- Collaborative environment supporting enterprise-wide analytics initiatives
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $60.00 and $70.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
